During this one (1) week of in-person classroom training the student will complete an overview study of the major systems that make up the AP1000® nuclear power plant. Students will review the purpose, major components, functions and design basis and system relationship of these plant systems. The week is divided into detailed overviews of the following functional areas:

1. The AP1000 Plant®
2. Reactor Coolant Systems
3. Passive Safety Related Systems
4. Non-safety Systems (Defense-in-Depth)
5. Control Systems
6. Electrical Systems
7. Auxiliary Cooling Water Systems
8. Containment
9. Secondary Plant Systems

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to describe the layout, function, design basis and relationships of each system. Additionally, students will be able to explain the operation and protection functions provided by the instrumentation and control plant equipment.

This course takes place in Westinghouse's Cranberry Woods Headquarters in Cranberry Woods Pennsylvania, USA. This course features use of the full scope AP1000 simulator located in Cranberry.
