Westinghouse Radiation Protection (RP) technician courses teach the fundamental science and how to assess radiological conditions to institute protective measures for radiation workers. A radiological simulator is used to enable trainees to learn proper survey techniques in an environment that does not pose radiation exposure. We are certified by EPRI to train and qualify candidates using the Standardized Task Evaluation process, and we have trained the majority of all new Junior Health Physics Technicians for the industry.
To begin a career as a Radiation Protection (RP) Technician, you must learn and demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to perform basic radiation protection tasks through completion of six e-learning courses covering technical fundamentals. Typically, candidates who have limited or no RP experience will invest at least 60 to 100 hours of personal time to be successful. A Westinghouse instructor will help you through this training. The instructor will evaluate your preparation and readiness for a 65-question proctored exam and also help you close knowledge gaps that are identified.
