The purpose of this course is to provide introductory training on basic nuclear and power production physics, basic nuclear plant safety, control and monitoring design philosophy and logic, and all major plant systems for a BWR. The course includes basic integrated plant operations training including design and operating differences between various Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) designs/generations for personnel in a technical role.
The course explains the process for producing and controlling core reactivity, major plant design specifications, protection features against an uncontrolled radioactivity release during an accident involving primary or secondary systems, key distinguishing differences between Boiling Water Reactor generations, automatic plant responses and BWR emergency operating philosophy.
